Tutorial: Messy Bun With Scarf Detail

I love a good tutorial where I can visually see how a hairstyle comes together. This messy bun with scarf detail is perfect for the summer months ahead. Enjoy!

A visual tutorial on a summer hairstyle

Start by placing the hair in a high pony tail. I do this to make sure the style will last longer throughout the day. After that, take a scarf of your choice and slip it underneath the ponytail. Adjust the length of the scarf by having one side longer than the other like in the picture above. I do that because I want as much scarf as possible to thread it through my rope braid. Next, take the ponytail and twist it into a loose rope braid.

Here’s where the fun begins. Take the longer end of the scar and weave it into the rope braid. From there, twist the braid into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Remember, to get the most grip out of your bobby pins, leave them closed while securing them. Can you see the scarf peeking through? So cute, right?! Next, tie the scarf ends together. I chose to leave the ends longer on my mannequin, but I think a bow would be really fun too.

And ta-da!! You’re all set to go to the park with your kiddos or the slay your work meeting. I’m always amazed at how the little details in a hairstyle can make all the difference!
