A few days ago, I went live on Instagram and showed how to do a Rachel Green blowout. I’m still blown away by the support and the feedback I received from it. We learned not only how to get those big beautiful waves we see on FRIENDS, but we talked about the basics of getting the most out of a blow drying session. I received many messages from women who said how much they loved it. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yourself, click on this link and it’ll take you there.
During the LIVE, I received a ton of questions about what tools and products I recommend in getting that perfect blowout. I decided to put it all together in one post. If you’re anxious to see what blow dryer I suggest, round brushes, and other products I love, keep reading.
The biggest request I received was what type of blow dryer I recommend. Before I suggest a specific one, the biggest thing you want to look for in a dryer is one that comes with a concentrator piece to it. This element helps protect the hair from the dryer’s heating coils and it helps direct the air flow, preventing frizziness and fly-aways. The 3 dryers that I mention below all have different price points. I will be honest, I personally have not tried these out, but the description, brand, reviews, and price point all seem to be a good fit. So lets get to it!
This Conair Blow Dryer is known to help reduce the frizz and to blow hot hair evenly. The attachments snap on tightly, allowing the concentrator to do the job well. At a cheaper price point, it may be a good option for you.
This Treszoro Dryer comes with 2 concentrator attachments, allowing you to give a more customized blow out. Known for it’s light weight and being quiet, you’ll find this a great option to help style the hair.
Don’t let the price point scare you, this is a great dryer! Known for getting the job done quick and for leaving the hair shiny and healthy, it’s a favorite dryer among stylists.
I hope these dryers give you a good place to start. Now what about a round brush? Don’t worry, I got you covered. Remember a round brush is used to give volume to the hair and to help the hair from getting greasy quicker. I also love to twist the round brush on the bottom of the hair to give a big beautiful curl to the ends.
This is my favorite round brush to use regardless if you have fine or coarse hair. The Olivia Grace brushes are designed to help distribute the heat of the blow dryer evenly and to help smooth out the hair. The handle design minimizes the hair from getting snagged too, Need help finding the right size? 2 1/8″ is the size I use for the Rachel Green curls, and the 2 3/4″ brush is used when focusing on volume. Go bigger for longer hair, smaller for shorter hair.
Every blow out needs a hair product to help hold the style and prevent fly-aways. This blow dry cream from Kenra is my go-to. It’s lightweight and helps the hair feel soft and manageable. I can hardly tell that I have product in my hair, I love it!
The round brush helps give the hair volume when blow drying, but adding a mousse at the root keeps that volume lasting longer. This is my favorite mousse to use. Give it a try!
