Where are my hair wand people at? I love the look that a wand can give. Especially when I want to my hair to look like I have naturally curly hair. There’s something about the way the hair gets twisted that makes it look organic and beautiful. My favorite thing to do is change the direction of the curl when i use the wand to make it look even more natural, but here I am, getting ahead of myself!
Believe is or not, the way you hold your wand matters in how the curl looks. A simple twist of the wrist can get the curls from looking more beachy to looking more like a true barrel role. Lets dive deeper into each of the curls.
Barrel-like Curls
If you’re looking for tighter and bouncier curls, try positioning your wand parallel to the floor. Your hair will naturally get twisted tighter and closer together. When you release your hair from the wand, it’ll keep it’s shape easier too. I love this technique when I’m doing up styles on my brides or if I’m looking for a lot of texture for a certain hairstyle. If you have naturally straight hair, this is also a great technique to keep your hair staying straighter longer.
Beachy-like Curls
But Brakell, I don’t want to looking like Shirley Temple, I want my hair to look like I spent the day and the beach. Don’t worry, I got you girl. There’s something about your hair looking effortless and amazing at the same time with beach like waves. Holding the wand perpendicular to the floor while wrapping your hair around it is key. The curls are wrapped farther apart from each other and I love to keep the ends out for an added organic vibe to it. Giving your hair a little pull right when you release it from the wand will also loosen the curl.
